Global Horizons: Celebrating Faculty Impact on Internationalization
Friday, November 14, 2025Internationalization at TRU: Why It Matters
In 2025, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) launched its 10-year Strategic Internationalization Plan (SIP) — a vision that expands on TRU’s 40 years of international engagement while deepening local connections. Internationalization is central to our mission of creating and sharing knowledge in a globally connected world. As education increasingly transcends borders, our SIP guides how we integrate international, intercultural and global dimensions into learning, research, and campus life.
Rooted in TRU’s commitment to reconciliation and guided by the values of the Secwépemc Nation, on whose land we live and learn, the SIP reflects our goal to offer every student, staff, faculty and community members the opportunity to engage with diverse global perspectives. Building on over 40 years of leadership in international education, this plan strengthens our role as a welcoming, globally engaged institution preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world.
